We won’t be back - but an “influencer” probably will!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

We just got back from a week at The Somerset. Our first family vacation post pandemic and celebrating my mother’s 65th. There was an “influencer” staying at the hotel during our visit aka someone with 200,000 plus Instagram followers. The hotel staff were clearly advised to focus on favoring this family. They were given preference of chairs around the pool area daily, the best hotel rooms, and the hotel would just share their Instagram posts as they were made. The hotel neglected care of others staying at the hotel including my family. We had young children and were unable to get any lounge chairs by the pool area, even with our group waking at 6am to try and reserve daily. They could have added more chairs to the pool and even chose not to. Our last day we were able to secure some chairs - just to have this family come to the pool and loudly raise their voices at us to relocate. Needless to say, don’t believe everything influencers post. And, we won’t be back…

The Orndorff's & Higgins yearly getaway.

The Somerset is always our go to for a relaxing vacation. The entire staff is friendly & go out of their way to make your stay so special. The rooms are so clean and offer great views. Would certainly recommend their breakfast to start your day, it's delicious. Would like to thank everyone for making our vacation so remarkable. From the general manager " Beverly " and reservationist " Stevonya " & "Tanya " it was a very smooth process to book our stay.

Wonderful for families!

Wonderful resort for all! Went went with 2 adults and a 4 yr old and it was perfect! 3 separate pools, 1 was zero entry and great for kids. Poolside food closes at 6pm, but had a variety of fresh food. Rooms were spacious and very clean, with huge kitchens we hardly used. Great central location on Grace Bay!

Just ok

Came to the Somerset with my family the last week of August which was the last week prior to them shutting down the season. BIG mistake. The one restaurant was closed all week, they made us order our breakfast via a paper that we had to submit to the front desk each morning, and god forbid you wanted more of something that wasnt an option. My room would have been ok but it was in the front of the hotel and there is no view at all. Be careful with what room you get cause there is a large number of rooms that sit in the front of the hotel with no view of anything. The staff did try their best to accommodate us but it was just hard. I wouldnt come back unless it was peak season and i had a ocean front room.

A beautiful resort in the perfect setting.

This was my second trip to Turks and Caicos (spent a week at Seven Stars last year) and I was looking for a smaller boutique resort with the same amenities and beautiful facilities, and Somerset did not disappoint. I stayed in a beautiful, spacious and well appointed 1 bedroom with a loft. My biggest complaint was the long walk to the beach and restaurants/amenities with Seven Stars last year-thus the reason I chose Somerset this year- it is such a great size- wonderful privacy, get just a short jaunt to the beach, spa, pool and restaurants. The staff was extremely courteous and welcoming, with first class service on the beach (even a complimentary gelato each day!). Plenty of activities for all ages at the beach and pool, themed activities at night, and a delicious pool and beach menu. The neighboring hotels are conveniently located for other dining options as well. I was able to drink and dine on property, had a relaxing spa treatment, floated in the ocean, relaxed on the beach (plenty of chairs and umbrellas unlike other resorts), paddle boarded and took a trip in a Hobie Cat! I was able to view a larger 3 bedroom unit before I left so I can plan my next trip to Somerset with the entire family! If you are looking for white sand, clear blue water, a stunning resort and clean/modern accommodations- this is a winner.
